Serial Port Program Loader for Sol-20 computer
I have designed a device that can download any of four stored programs into a Sol-20 computer from the 1970's. The current version of the PIC code contains four games: Target, Tetris, Raiders (Space Invaders clone) and a Pacman clone. These programs were downloaded from the Sol-20.org site. Other programs could be stored instead, with some effort. Note: at least 16K of SRAM must be installed in the Sol-20 in order to run Tetris. The other programs will probably run with 8K. The device is powered from the serial port, so no other power source is needed. Here is an archive containing the Gerber files, a parts list, parts placement, and operating instructions. I suggest ordering boards from JLCPCB, as they offer good quality, reasonable prices, and fast service. And here is an archive containg the hex file for PIC programming which includes the four games mentioned in the operating instructions.
